CHENNAI: The Madras High Court will deliver its judgment on Wednesday (March 6) in a case filed against Minister Udayanidhi Stalin's comment on Sanatnam. The entire DMK is nervous that the decision will be adverse to Udayanidhi.
The Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers and Artists Association held a 'Sanadana Abolippu Conference' in Chennai last year. Minister Udayanidhi Stalin attended and addressed. Then he said, "We should not oppose Sanatana Dharma. We will not oppose diseases such as mosquito, dengue, malaria, corona. But we will try to eradicate them. Similarly, Sanatana Dharma. It is better to eradicate than to oppose it."
This speech of Udhayanidhi Stalin, though passed off as normal in Tamil Nadu, went up in flames in the northern states. Sanatana Dharma also means Hinduism in northern states. Therefore, his speech became a huge trigger for the BJP to campaign that Udhayanidhi is saying that he wants to eradicate Hinduism. In this regard, defamation cases have been filed against Udayanidhi in several states including Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.
Similarly, a case has been filed against Udayanidhi Stalin in the Madras High Court. Judge Anita Sumant was investigating the case. In this case, the judge announced that the judgment of the case will be delivered on Wednesday (March 6) after the arguments of both sides have concluded.
Earlier, a similar case came up for hearing in the Supreme Court yesterday. At that time, the judges condemned Udayanidhi's speech. "After abusing the right to freedom of expression under Article 19(1)(a) and Article 25 of the Constitution, you are now filing a petition in the Supreme Court seeking protection. You are not an ordinary person. A minister of state. You should know very well how much impact your speech can have. It is noteworthy that the judges had said.
